New Adventures in Photography
As our wedding photography season wrapped up last year, a new adventure in photography started for me. Having been able to buy some wonderful new equipment last year, I was excited to finally sink my teeth into some more challenging, and above all, different photography work.
My first work was at our wonderful family cabin, where I took taking photographs of the beautiful surroundings more seriously than I had before, and came up with some great shots. I remember fondly running in and out of the sauna, together with my friend Eryk, taking photographs of the beautiful night sky – our naked bodies steaming in the cold air. It was wonderful. Here are a few samples of that work.
After returning, I had the great luck of photographing two beautiful couples. They wanted memories of thier pregnancies and it was a wonderful opportunity to set up lighting and backgrounds and do the studio work I so crave. This set was done at Michelle and Jon’s house. We had a relaxing time chatting and photographing for over 4 hours, and using two different backgrounds. The baby was born only 3 days later!
Rebecca and Andrew were my second pregnancy portrait. This series was done in our living-room. They were a very sweet couple and a joy to photograph.
Having time to photograph like this awakens a long-hidden hunger to photograph. I haven’t felt like this in years. I’m on the hunt for some studio space. Photographing in living rooms is difficult at best, and I really need some more space in order to be able to have full flexibility and even better results. I’m hoping to find someone who is able to rent out a space that is otherwise not easily rent-able. Perhaps I could work out a work trade for the space.
I have so many ideas in my mind about other photography projects!
