Vacations / Mandy / Living Barefoot

It’s about time I wrote a little something here.  It’s been a while and much has happened.

We are supposed to be on our motorcycle vacation on the Oregon coast at the moment, but as we were prepping for our vacation, Nicole happened to notice that Mandy had a slightly swollen lip, and upon investigation we found that she had a tooth that was very loose.  Mandy has never had good teeth – she doesn’t like chewing on things in general, doesn’t play with things using her mouth, and so her teeth do not benifit from the normal self-cleaning most dogs have.

We realized right away that this might need urgent attention, so the next morning I brought Mandy into our Vet.  She was booked for Surgery on Monday morning.  She had 7 teeth removed.  She recovered well from the surgery, but sadly we no longer had the cash or the time for our Oregon Vacation.

My friend Tina, who is my talented co-host (amoung so many things) on the Living Barefoot Show (more on that later) so very kindly invited us to join her and her husband Andrew for a vacation in Calgary. So, we are currently off to Calgary to enjoy our remaining vacation touring the Rockies, and visiting sites in and around Calgary.  It’s been almost 15 years since I’ve been in that direction, and the more I think about it, the more excited i am about this trip.

Tina and I have never met.  It will be really great to meet in person, and to get to know her husband Andrew, and her kids (two dogs!).

What is this Living Barefoot Show you ask?  Well as you probably know, I’m a huge fan of being barefoot, and of barefoot-like footwear.   This interest became a blog over the last 6 months (LivingBarefoot.info).  This is where I met Tina, who so kindly offered to help with the site, and after some time, we decided to start a podcast, called The Living Barefoot Show.

The show and the site has since had a huge amount of interest.  With more than 14,000 hits per month, and radio intervies, and an article in The Globe and Mail, we’ve had more media attention that we could ever have expected, and It’s still going on!

Working on this blog has been al ot of fun, and has connected me with so many interesting people.  We have a lineup of guests and show topics and are really excited to see where all of this takes us.

So that’s my update.  I have the pleasure of writing this on my laptop, as Nicole drives us through the mountains, connected with a cellular internet connection – it’s fantastic.
